So yeah, it’s been a while since I last posted anything, so here I am, but don’t worry, as I said in a previous post, I’ve got some things in development.
So I took several months away from social media and what not, not because of any personal reasons, but more for creative reasons. In order to explain that a little more we need to back peddle a little. You see I’m highly critical of my own work, and in the past months I’ve made some fairly radical changes in my artistic process. Why? You ask, because I don’t want to simply let my skill just plateau when I reach a level where I’m producing stuff I’m pleased with. Always looking to go one step further I’ve branched out into doing stuff with way less visual reference which gives me more options with what I can do with the images. Through all of this I realised the way I was painting things before, was only gonna’ work on the older portrait style I was mainly doing before. This then led me to review my process and effectively relearn my style of painting. Yeah, for about 3 months it was just trail and error followed by hair pulling. But slowly, as we got into the latter part of last year, 2018, things did finally start to come along. And as I said, I am highly critical of my own work so posting or even showing any of what I was producing at the time just made me cringe. So with that hopefully brief explanation of the last several months out of the way, shall we?
So I’ve still bee
n working on the fantasy thing I mentioned before, both working on the characters visually and literally.
This one here is one of the first ones I did in this loose splashy kind of style, or it was at least the first one I did that wasn’t total trash. All the characters I show are my own characters and yes, characters that will appear in the series, though I’m not showing all of them here, this isn’t a reveal after all.
I’ve been thinking recently also about being more creative with the images, not just in their content, but my application of them also.

As soon as I conceptualized this character I loved it right away, i just knew there was something there. Sketches soon turned into painted renderings.

I guess the way all these characters are only female makes it look like it’s an all female cast, but its not.
