So with a new project in the making I realised i’d need to do a few portraits for it, and good god does it feel like ages since I did a portrait. So of course what did I do? I practiced a few portraits.

These first ones were studies done from reference just to get the feel for faces again.

Then I started my own sketch of my characters face, just roughing out an idea.

Once i’d settled on an idea I began refining the character into the thing i’d imagined.

 

It didn’t take me long to get the look of the character, I knew what I wanted to do with her so I was fairly decisive with the concepts.

 

 

This one ended up making the character look older than i’d intended so I made some adjustments.

 

 

By this point i’d pretty much got the gist/jist whatever, of the character so I didn’t feel the need to do any more and just start the story instead.

But wait, there’s more, there’s always more, and where would we be without the failed attempts. Yes we all have those, maybe that was why you’re here, or maybe not.

Ths is a study that failed at the start of all this

Then there’s the ones of my own character that fucked up, i mean, that……I fucked up.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I frickin’ hate looking at my own fails, it’s cringey as hell but there you go, that’s life, the universe and everything else.

Oh yeah there’s one more, I would’ve put this in earlier but I’m at the end and can’t be bothered to get it to fit in back there properly. Oh hang on it’s actually two not one, so here we go.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

So this is the same charcter just later in the story, yeah, she has a pretty rough time. I was messing  around with the colour palette on this one and decided she looked like an alien….I mean..she is blue here. Looks kind of anime as well.

Almost the exact same pose but with a more normal lighting colour and all that. So I think that’s actually all of it for the moment. Wait there’s more! Nah not really.
